Previously we achieved Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHS) OHSAS 18001 having been audited by TUV since December 2012, but this has recently been replaced by the new standard, so TW Engineering felt it appropriate to obtain certification well in advance of the transition date.

We are proud to be currently one of a few of companies to have successfully made the transition to ISO 45001 at the first attempt. Many have started the process, which needs to be completed by March 2021, but some organisations appear to be finding the transition difficult to implement due to the complexity of requirements.

ISO 45001 is designed to prevent work-related injury and ill-health and to provide safe and healthy workplaces. In addition, it can also deliver increased organisational resilience through proactive risk prevention, innovation and continual improvement and the strengthening of legal and regulatory compliance whilst reducing business losses.

For any company, the road to certification requires time and commitment. TW Engineering commenced preparations upon the release of the standards final draft, by evaluating our existing procedures and aligning them with the new requirements. Since our documentation and procedures were already well established and compliant with the current British Standards, we had a good foundation to work from. In November 2018, TUV performed the mandatory transition audit that subsequently resulted in TW Engineering being awarded ISO 45001 certification.

TW Engineering constantly strives to protect and enhance its most important asset, our people, by having an effective occupational health and safety management system is paramount for us. This is why we are extremely honoured to be amongst those organisations to have achieved an early transition.
